Madras High Court Dismisses Actress Tamannaah’s Petition Against Power Soaps Over Breach of Contract

The Madras High Court has dismissed a petition filed by popular actress Tamannaah Bhatia against ‘Power Soaps’ company. The actress had approached the court alleging that the company used her images for brand promotion without authorization after their official agreement had expired. However, the court rejected the plea, citing a lack of sufficient evidence to support her claims.

The legal dispute dates back to a brand endorsement agreement signed between Tamannaah and Power Soaps in 2008. According to the contract, the company was permitted to use the actress’s likeness for advertising purposes until October 2009. Tamannaah alleged that the firm continued to utilize her photos for promotion during 2010 and 2011, long after the permitted period had ended, and she sought ₹1 crore in compensation for this unauthorized usage.

During the proceedings, the Madras High Court observed that the petitioner failed to provide concrete proof or evidence demonstrating that the company had indeed used her photographs for promotion during the disputed 2010-11 period. Consequently, the court ruled in favor of the soap manufacturing company and dismissed the actress’s petition, bringing an end to the long-standing legal battle over celebrity endorsement rights.
