Warangal Double Murder Case: Court Awards Death Penalty to Accused

In a landmark judgment delivered in a brutal double murder case in the Warangal district, the First Additional District Judge J. Maitreyi awarded the death sentence to the prime accused. The horrific incident took噓place on the midnight of July 10, 2024, in Chintala Thanda of Chennaraopet Mandal. The convict, Mekala Nagaraju alias Bunny, an auto driver from Gundenga village, had a love marriage with Deepika from the Thanda. Due to his troublesome behavior, Deepika returned to her parents’ home, which prompted Nagaraju to harbor a deep grudge, believing her parents had separated them.

Driven by vengeance, Nagaraju barged into his in-laws’ residence at midnight and launched a indiscriminate knife attack on the family. Deepika’s mother, Suguna, died on the spot, while her father, Srinu, succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. Although Deepika and her brother, Madan, sustained severe injuries during the violent assault, they managed to survive after medical intervention.

Following a meticulous investigation, Nekkonda Circle Inspector Srinivas filed a comprehensive chargesheet supported by strong technical and forensic evidence, while Special Public Prosecutor Vrinda Devi strongly argued the case on behalf of the victims. Concluding that the crime fell under the “rarest of rare” categories due to its barbaric nature, the judge stated that such criminals have no right to live in society and ordered that the accused, Nagaraju, be hanged by the neck until dead.
