Tamil Nadu Politics: TVK Invites Alliance Partners to Join Cabinet Amid Left’s Warning Over AIADMK Rebels

Following the unexpected victory of Thalapathy Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, the party fell short of a clear majority, forcing Vijay to form the government with the crucial support of alliance partners including the Congress, CPI, CPM, and VCK. Speculation intensified regarding a possible cabinet entry for AIADMK rebel MLAs who had voted in favor of the TVK government during the trust vote. However, TVK General Secretary Aadhav Arjuna cleared the air by extending a humble invitation to social justice-oriented alliance partners, explicitly requesting the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) led by Thol. Thirumavalavan and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) to formally join the ministry and function together like a family.

The definitive clarification from the TVK leadership follows a stern warning from the CPM, which threatened to reconsider its external support to the government if the AIADMK rebel faction was inducted into the cabinet. Adhering to the alliance’s consensus, Aadhav Arjuna confirmed that the Left parties have chosen to extend support from the outside—a democratic decision that the TVK completely respects. He further validated that the Congress, holding five seats as the largest partner in the coalition after TVK, is confirmed to share governance, fulfilling Chief Minister Vijay’s long-standing dream of inclusive governance focused on social justice.

While refusing to reveal the exact structural timeline of the impending cabinet expansion, Arjuna stated that Chief Minister Vijay would soon make an official announcement regarding the newly appointed ministers. He used the platform to hit out at opposition leaders, alleging that DMK factions and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami had previously engaged in backdoor political maneuvering to grab power with external assistance when the initial mandate threw up a fractured verdict. Reasserting the core ideology of their political enterprise, the TVK general secretary stated that their government remains uncompromisingly dedicated to delivering absolute transparency and uplifting marginalized communities.
