Cyber Fraud Alert: Scammers Duped Victims of Over ₹2.10 Crore Using Fake Investment Schemes

Cybercriminals are continuing to target people with sophisticated scams, cheating victims through fake forex trading offers, fraudulent WhatsApp messages, and bogus overseas agricultural land investment schemes. In three separate cases, fraudsters allegedly duped victims of more than ₹2.10 crore. Cyber Crime Police have registered cases and launched investigations into the incidents.

In one case, a private employee from Kondapur fell victim to a fake forex trading scheme after seeing an advertisement on social media. After joining a WhatsApp group through the link in the advertisement, the victim was promised high returns on investments. The fraudsters initially convinced him to invest ₹1 lakh and later persuaded him to deposit more money, claiming additional investments were needed to recover losses.

The victim eventually transferred ₹40.30 lakh into multiple bank accounts. The scammers returned only ₹7.30 lakh to gain his confidence before disappearing with the remaining ₹33 lakh. Realizing he had been cheated, the victim approached the Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police, who registered a case and began an investigation. Authorities have once again urged the public to verify investment platforms carefully and avoid transferring money based on promises of unusually high returns.
