A chain-snatching incident created panic in Banaganapalle town after unidentified bike-borne miscreants allegedly snatched a gold chain from a woman in broad daylight. The incident took place near the Electricity Office area while the victim, Narayanamma, was sweeping the front yard of her house. The accused reportedly fled on a motorcycle after snatching her three-tola gold chain.
According to locals, the woman raised an alarm as the chain was being forcibly pulled from her neck. However, by the time neighbors rushed to the spot, the accused had already escaped. The victim later lodged a complaint at the Banaganapalle Police Station.
Banaganapalle Urban Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Police are examining CCTV footage from nearby roads to identify and trace the suspects. Urban CI Praveen Kumar said efforts are underway to apprehend the accused at the earliest.
