Police arrested two persons involved in a jewellery theft case in Peddapuram on Tuesday and recovered stolen ornaments worth around ₹20 lakh. The details of the case were revealed by Peddapuram DSP A.B.G. Tilak during a media briefing held at the DSP office on Tuesday evening.
According to the DSP, the complainant, P. Lakshmi, had travelled from Sarpavaram to Gokavaram on April 30 to attend a relative’s wedding. After reaching Samarlakota, she boarded a bus to Gokavaram. When the bus reached Peddapuram, she noticed that her handbag had been opened and her gold jewellery, including a black-bead chain and two gold necklaces weighing about 64 grams, had been stolen.
Following the complaint, police launched an investigation using technical evidence and other leads, eventually identifying and arresting the two accused. The stolen gold ornaments worth approximately ₹20 lakh were recovered, and further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
