Director SS Rajamouli, who took Telugu cinema to the global stage with films like Baahubali and RRR, has once again revealed which film from his career is closest to his heart. Despite delivering several industry hits and achieving worldwide recognition, Rajamouli says Eega remains his personal favourite. His comments, “Eega is my best film.. it’s my personal favourite,” have gone viral on social media, surprising fans who expected him to choose one of his biggest global blockbusters.
Rajamouli also shared some interesting details about his upcoming ambitious project Varanasi, starring superstar Mahesh Babu. Describing it as an adventure film, the director said the story will take audiences on a spectacular journey across different parts of the world. The narrative reportedly begins in Varanasi and travels to the snow-covered Antarctica before moving to Africa.
The story then goes back in time and reaches the ancient Roman Empire before eventually returning to Varanasi. With its massive scale, international backdrop and Mahesh Babu in the lead, Varanasi has already generated huge expectations worldwide. The makers have announced that the much-awaited film is scheduled to hit theatres on April 7, 2027.
