The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken strict action against 26-year-old Indian-origin USA cricketer Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy. After being found guilty of match-fixing-related offences, he has been banned from participating in cricket for eight years. Reddy was found guilty of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code during the 2025 Abu Dhabi T10 tournament. The ban is considered effective from November 21, 2025, when his provisional suspension came into effect, and will remain in place until November 2033.
The ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal found Reddy guilty of three violations during the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament. He breached Article 2.1.1 by attempting to improperly influence the result or another aspect of a match. He was also found guilty under Article 2.1.4 for encouraging, inducing or attempting to persuade a fellow player to participate in match-fixing.
In addition, Reddy was found guilty under Article 2.4.7 for obstructing the investigation by deleting chats, call records and other data from his mobile phone after the investigation had begun. Reddy, who grew up in Hyderabad, is a right-handed batter and off-spin bowler. He represented the USA national team in four T20 internationals in 2025, and the eight-year ban is now set to have a major impact on his cricket career.
