Sheikh Hasina: Former Bangladesh PM May Appear in Public Event in Delhi This Week

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to make her first public appearance at an event this week, nearly two years after her government was ousted following student-led protests in Dhaka and she moved to India. The 78-year-old former prime minister has been living in India since August 5, 2024. According to reports, she may attend and address an event in Delhi on Wednesday.

Sheikh Hasina is expected to participate in an event organised by the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia in Delhi. The programme is scheduled to be held on Wednesday from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at the Sir Mark Tully Auditorium. The event is reportedly expected to be livestreamed through the club’s social media platforms, allowing viewers to follow her address online.

During the event, Sheikh Hasina may make important remarks about her plans to return to Bangladesh. Her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and former Bangladesh Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel are also expected to speak at the programme. Her appearance could draw significant attention amid ongoing discussions surrounding Bangladesh’s political situation and her future plans.
