Walmart-owned Flipkart is reportedly preparing to launch its food delivery service in Bengaluru, taking on established players such as Swiggy and Zomato. The service is expected to become available by August 15, 2026. The company has already started onboarding restaurant partners across the city as part of its preparations for the launch.
While other food delivery platforms generally charge restaurants commissions ranging between 16% and 30%, Flipkart is reportedly offering a significantly lower commission of just 10%. The move is aimed at attracting more restaurants to its platform and creating a strong base before expanding its food delivery operations.
Flipkart is expected to offer the service through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), which is promoted by the Government of India. The food delivery service will reportedly be available through the main Flipkart app as well as a standalone app. Ashish Vijayvargiya, former Chief of Staff to Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy, is currently leading the project, according to reports.
