Floodlight Collapse: Massive Floodlight Collapses at Visakhapatnam Railway Stadium Amid Strong Winds

A massive floodlight at the Railway Stadium in Visakhapatnam collapsed due to strong winds, narrowly avoiding a major accident. Hundreds of people usually visit the stadium every morning and evening for walking and jogging. However, the ground was empty at the time of the incident due to rain and strong winds, preventing any casualties. The sudden collapse has raised concerns over the quality of the structure and its maintenance.

Railway officials have launched an investigation into the incident. They said the exact reason behind the collapse would be identified and necessary action would be taken. The incident has also highlighted the need for proper inspection and maintenance of large structures, especially during periods of strong winds and severe weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) issued a weather warning for several districts, forecasting thunderstorms and rain over the next three hours. An orange alert was issued for Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Anakapalli districts. The authority warned of thunderstorms and strong winds in areas including Araku, Chintapalle, Narsipatnam, Yelamanchili, Anakapalli and Visakhapatnam. People were advised to stay alert, avoid standing under trees and refrain from venturing into open areas during thunderstorms and lightning.
