Another attempt to smuggle weapons into India through a drone from Pakistan has come to light along the India-Pakistan international border. Security forces seized a drone that had entered Indian territory from Pakistan in Punjab’s Fazilka district. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered along with the drone. The recovery was made during a joint search operation conducted by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police.
BSF personnel received information about suspected drone activity near Tahliwala village in Fazilka district and immediately alerted the local police. Ghubaaya Police Post in-charge Abhishek Sharma reached the suspected area along with his team. The area was cordoned off and an extensive search operation was launched. After several hours of searching, the security personnel found the drone along with weapons in a nearby paddy field.
The recovery has raised concerns over continued attempts to use drones for cross-border arms smuggling. Security agencies are investigating the source of the weapons, the intended recipients and the exact route taken by the drone. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
