A young man who called off his engagement after allegedly facing demands for cash and property before marriage was reportedly threatened with serious consequences unless he paid Rs.3 crore to withdraw the case.

According to reports, Vamsi, a scientist from Tirupati, met Namratha, a deputy manager working for an insurance company in Hyderabad, through a dating app. The two later decided to get married and got engaged. However, Vamsi’s family reportedly called off the engagement after alleging that they were being pressured over property and cash demands even before the marriage.

Following the dispute, the matter reportedly escalated, with an alleged demand of Rs.3 crore to withdraw the case.
