Karnataka witnessed a cabinet expansion on Monday, with 19 MLAs taking oath as ministers. However, the expansion has reportedly triggered strong dissatisfaction within the ruling Congress. While two MLAs have already resigned, reports suggest that another 10 MLAs may also consider resigning. Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s absence from the swearing-in ceremony at Raj Bhavan has further fueled speculation about differences within the Congress. Reports indicate that tensions may have emerged between the camps led by Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. His absence has become a major talking point amid the growing discontent over the cabinet expansion.
However, Siddaramaiah’s camp clarified that he could not attend the ceremony due to birthday-related programmes and previously scheduled meetings. At the same time, some sources claimed that his absence was linked to dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the cabinet expansion. The developments have sparked renewed debate over the internal equations within the Karnataka Congress government.
